Welcome to the EWGA - Northern New Jersey Chapter

The Executive Women's Golf Association (EWGA) is a not-for-profit organization formed in 1991 whose mission is connecting women to learn, play, and enjoy the game of golf for business and for fun.

The Northern NJ Chapter provides golf opportunities for members in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic and Sussex counties. We offer golf education, leagues, tournaments, social events and a network of international business connections for thousands of professional women across the globe.  Members are active and retired CEOs, CFOs, Program and Project Managers, teachers and professors; realtors, financial, legal, manufacturing, medical and health professionals, small business owners and more.

Locally, we offer 20 leagues, a weekend golf school, “Ready to Golf “ and technique improvement programs, monthly on and off course networking events, rules and etiquette workshops; tristate area EWGA  stroke, scramble and match tournaments; and a Chapter Championship.

Joining the Northern New Jersey Chapter is a great way to get involved in the game of golf and to meet other women. Our Calendar of Events includes education programs, leagues, golf outings, and networking & social activities.

President's Message

President’s Message

February was a verrry interesting month. We had mixed feelings at our last board meeting, because as many of you know Kathy Williams, our Leagues Director, is permanently moving to Florida. Kathy has been a loyal EWGA-NNJ member since 2006 and has been an active volunteer clearly enjoying the fun of ‘making it happen’ as well as keeping things moving along to ensure that we all enjoy golf, meeting new friends, learn how to play, where to play and when golf is available; so now you know that Kathy is one of those magical people who is able to anticipate what is needed and when.

We will miss you Kathy! Not just for what you do, but more importantly for who you are. You did promise (or was a threat) to come back and play with your league during the summer – we truly hope you will.

So what will we do without our league leader? Well, our Board Secretary, Diana Galer who has been Kathy’s faithful back up league leader has moved up to fill the void that Kathy’s moving would leave. Thank you, Diana.

But oh, (you say) – now we’re without a Board Secretary. Not so fast with that assumption. This is a volunteer organization with open hearted women who are willing to come forth, (particularly if fun is involved,) Ta, da – 16 years of membership has created that loyalty and understanding of the importance of ‘being there when needed,’ Mary Soltis has stepped up to be our Secretary as a volunteer to fill the breech.

I told you it was a very interesting month so, yes there is more. Tina Hong has stepped out of her Marketing Director’s role as she indicated that her business is growing and needs more of her time. We’re happy for her and will do everything we can to support her success, yet while she’ll still enjoy ewga-nnj and golfing with her friends, we are now seeking someone who has PR and Branding skills to fill the Marketing Director seat on the Board to share and exhibit those skills for our members and sponsors.

I love happy stories, (I say with a tear in my eye as I wave goodbye to Kathy).

This past month we learned that LPGA and EWGA have created a strategic alliance. This is a good thing for both organizations and our members.

A few of you have asked how we can benefit from this relationship. The rationale behind this joint action is very logical. The LPGA as an organization is focused on teaching, playing and needing additional playing opportunities for women golfers.

By forming a strategic alliance, we are able to position the EWGA as the ‘play’ component of the LPGA Women's Network by providing more playing opportunities for women golfers. Using what the EWGA has built in terms of a base over our 25-plus years, this alliance will elevate our association and all that we do by putting the full resources of the LPGA behind it. Our joint goal is to grow the player and chapter base to create more opportunities for women golfers in a comfortable environment.

The EWGA currently has thousands of members spanning hundreds of communities here in the United States, as well as Canada, Bermuda and Italy. In addition, EWGA hosts more than 7,500 local and national activities every year, including social outings, leagues, networking opportunities and competitive amateur events.

Our CEO, Jane Geddes, pointed out that this strategic alliance with the LPGA and the LPGA Women’s Network is the beginning of a new era for women’s golf.

Locally the LPGA’s support for us creates a path for more women golfers to play our sport by attracting thousands of new players to the game and adds more playing opportunities for EWGA members.

I see this as an exciting next step and natural progression for EWGA and us as members. We’ll have to take one step at a time and it won’t all happen in a blink, but we will keep you aware of the steps that are taken along the way.

As someone who spent the last 10yrs+ of my corporate career in sales and marketing I view this alliance as a huge step for us. The LPGA has a greater presence around the world which should make marketing for us a bit easier and it is also a step in the direction we have wanted to grow. Connecting women for business and play is our sweet spot and that’s what made the LPGA come to us to get it done right!
